How to book wedding decor & styling in Scotland
Decor is the category that changes how your wedding feels the moment guests walk in. The right decorator works with your venue rather than against it — so the brief, and the site visit, matter more here than anywhere else.
What decor companies actually do
Most wedding decor companies offer packages rather than bespoke design: room dressing, chair covers and sashes, centrepieces, backdrops, draping, lighting and table styling, with props and accessories hired alongside. Many will also handle delivery, set-up and collection, which is worth more than it sounds on the morning of a wedding.
Ask to see photos of their work at your venue — or one like it. A barn, a hotel function suite and a marquee each need a completely different approach, and a decorator who knows the room will know what the ceiling height, the lighting and the access times allow.
What decor is worth in Scotland specifically
Scottish venues are often historic or rural, and that cuts both ways. Castles and stone barns need very little dressing to look spectacular, but they come with rules — no fixings in listed walls, limited power, tight set-up windows around other events.
A decorator who works regularly at your venue will know the rules already, and will plan around the realities: candle policies, where the generator goes, and how long the single-track road really takes with a loaded van.
Questions worth asking
- What is included in the package — and what counts as an extra?
- Do you handle delivery, set-up and collection, and is that in the price?
- Have you dressed our venue before, and can we see photos?
- Are there any restrictions at our venue we should know about?
- What happens if something is damaged or the weather changes the plan?
- How long do you need for set-up, and who lets you in?
